Take the ferry!
The Bridgeport/Port Jefferson Steamship Company makes traveling between
Bridgeport, CT and Port Jefferson on Long Island enjoyable and convenient.
Bring your car, your bicycle, or just walk on and off (advance reservations
are required for vehicles). A full snack bar and lounge serve food and
beverages. Want to make a day of it? A variety of tour packages are available,
as well as sunset cruises with live entertainment. During peak season,
(roughly from May to October) three ferries operate, with a ferry arriving
in Bridgeport sixteen times a day. In the winter months a two vessel
schedule is in effect, with eleven arrivals per day. Complete schedule

Bridgeport by rail.
Bridgeport is one of only two cities in Fairfield County served by both Metro
North (which operates the local commuter rail line) and Amtrak, which offers
high-speed trains to Boston, New York, Washington DC and points beyond. Parking
is available in commuter lots on Water Street, or in the Harbor Yard garage.

Ride the bus.
The Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority provides bus services throughout
Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford and Trumbull with Route 15 service extending
to Shelton and Derby and the Coastal Link bus which operates along Route
1 from Milford to Norwalk. There is also an extensive minibus service for
riders with disabilities, which operates during the same days and hours
