The Playhouse on the Green

Playhouse on the Green enriches Bridgeport's cultural life by providing an eclectic variety of live stage entertainment and arts education programs at an affordable cost, as well as providing opportunities for area artists. Its small, 228-seat jewel box theater offers a range of entertainment throughout the year, attracting a diverse and growing audience to downtown Bridgeport.

Recognized for its brightly lit marquee and celebrated for its beauty, the Playhouse is an award-winning example of the adaptive re-use of historic buildings. The majestic former bank building has been converted into an intimate yet elegant proscenium theatre with magnificent details including marble walls, Corinthian pilasters, and a coffered ceiling highlighted with gilded florets.  The auditorium is very comfortable, with excellent acoustics and superb sightlines.  There isn’t a bad seat in the house!
