Join in Bridgeport's Exciting Arts Festival and New Year's Eve Celebration.
December 31, 2006 8:00 pm - midnight

The 2nd annual First Night Bridgeport will bring its unique brand of entertainment to downtown Bridgeport to ring in the new year. A multi-location combinationn of performances and activities will take to stages throughout the downtown area at 13 different performance venues offering 22 different things to see and do.

Programming will begin at 8:00pm and continue through midnight. A wide array of performances including jazz, gospel, storytelling, drumming, choral groups, juggling, and classical, folk and world music are being offered. Featured performers include:

• City Winds Trio - classical music
• The Coastal Chordsmen - four part harmony
• Connecticut Saxophone Quartet - a children's performance
• Double Vision - physical comedy, juggling & mime
• Dr. Ya Ya's Gumbo Party - a Mardi Gras celebration
• The Dramatix - Rock 'n roll
• DrumSongStory - family entertainment
• Daniel Forlano - a comedy variety act
• Giacomo Gates Trio - cool jazz
• Harmony on the Sound Chorus - Sweet Adelines
• The Lance James Project
• Les Julian - children's singer/songwriter
• Shari Lynn - storyteller
• The Steve Nystrup Group - folk songs
• Tammy Richardson - storyteller
• Royal Steel Pan Band
• The Soul Lifters - uplifting gospel sounds
• The Warrior Poetes

Special Activities include:

• Giant Wall Mural
• Resolution Luminaria
• Giant Street Puppets

Admission buttons are $7 for adults and $1 for children under 12. Buttons can be purchased at the Customer Service Desks at the Bridgeport branches of People's Bank, the Discovery Museum, Burroughs Community Center, and the Cardinal Shehan Center.
